Today we cooked a roast with potatoes, carrots peppers etc. Decided to try the CWTGTO method. Turned the oven up to 500 degrees for 30 minutes than turned off the oven. Let it set for 4 hours and ate dinner. It was fantastic and now we are true believers. I wonder if this would work in a regular oven? This Chambers is definitely ahead of its time.

No, it won't - ordinary ovens are not as well insulated, even the new ones of today are pretty poorly insulated, so it won't work.

CWTGTO, ain't it great!!
No, it will not work CWTGTO in just any old oven.
Chambers uses that wonderful rockwool insulation.
Have you tried the T-well?? That's my 2nd fav after the broiler.
You do have the Idle Hour Cookbook?? I use it more as a guide and get a kick out reading those old recipes!!

Yes, we do have the cookbook and the owners manual. We have used the thermowell before, but not the oven in this manner.
Berlyn, good to see you respond. I haven't seen you in quite awhile. It was your pictures that inspired the little wifey and I to refurb our Addie.
